    Educational Program

The Iota Educational & Housen Foundation will implement a tutoring program to aid students in pursuit of better education in both middle and high schools. We will implement an intake and evaluation process to identify the problem areas in the students learning ability. Through this process we will discover the best approach to help the students reach their full potential. After identifying their specific problem areas the students will be assigned to an experienced volunteer tutor. The tutor will play an active role in getting to know the curriculum of each student so they can aid in the development and improvement of the student’s learning abilities. The tutor will address the needs of our students and show them simplified, fun approaches to learning. The tutor will focus on preparing middle school students for entrance into high school as well as prepare our high school students in preparing for college.

Students in grades 10 and 11 will have tutoring sessions which focus on preparation for college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT as well as focus on preparation for the California Exit Exam which all students in California must pass in order to graduate from a California high school. We will also help our students develop a scholastic plan for themselves by assisting them in developing their college applications and applying for scholarships to attend college. We will also organize events where we take some of our high school juniors and seniors to tour local area college applications and applying for scholarships to attend college. We will also organize events where we take some of our high school juniors and seniors to tour local area college campuses. For high school seniors who participate in our program we will conduct a small ceremony where we will hand out certificates of completions for our graduating students. At this ceremony we will award  Many of our students with  scholarships. These scholarships will be awarded to help the students attend a public or private college or university of the students choice.

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy will be implemented to assure students healthy balance: cognitively, emotionally, culturally, and socially. Many students suffer due to the lack of support by teachers and/or parents, limited resources, and limited time restraints. Many students are failing to produce academically. This program is designed to identify the problem areas n their  life such as their personal behavior in their homes, school, and social situations. This program will help the students through positive reinforcement and alternative behaviors that will  encourage, support, and motivate students to have the ability to cope with challenges they  may face.

Through our program we will take an interest in the life of our students and we will help them  excel academically and socially. Our program will ultimately aid them by enabling them to  become upstanding citizens.

This program will utilize volunteer students in college, which are specializing in psychology and cognitive behavior program. Our volunteers will conduct one-on-one meetings which teach the students about depression, anxiety attacks, etc. our volunteers will teach them methods of how to cope with situations so they can be successful in college and in life. We will refer these individuals to professional help if needed. These professionals will be working with government            agencies or other nonprofit 501 ©(3) organizations.

    Prevention Plan

Substance Abuse in middle and high schools are at an all time high. Alcohol and cigarettes are the most common substances used by youth. In the hopes of inspiring youth to live healthy drug- free lives, this prevention program will do the following:

    ·      Take youth on field trips to substance abuse clinics

    ·      Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with treatment counselors

    ·      Provide opportunities for parental substance abuse training and assistance

    Mentoring Plan

Our Mentorship Program will have the potential to bring life-changing experiences and learning             opportunities to our youth participants. The experience will offer our mentor’s avenues to share expertise and engage the youth to positively influence them. This program will focus on  developing character building activities, conducting community service projects, developing  leadership skills, conducting college preparation and even focus on dating 101. These workshops  and/or activities will be aimed at building a year –long relationship with mentees and mentors             from a variety of disciplines and industries, including the worlds of  business, entertainment,  media, politics and governments, science and technology

Students will participate in two mentoring activities a month to help them experience   opportunities that enhance their expertise and understanding of the techniques and tools to  become future highly successful young men and women. These learning experiences will guide them in the development of their own leadership skills and future career endeavors.

    Housing Plan

The Iota Educational & Housen Foundation will develop a referral service for those individuals in our program, which need assistance finding housing due to emancipation. We will refer our  youth participants to government agencies and other 501 ©(3) organizations which specialize in providing housing for youth. In 5 to 10 years we would like to open a housing facility for youth.

The Iota Educational & Housen Foundation will not charge any fees for youth to participate in any of our programs. We will conduct our activities at local area high schools, community centers, and churches. In the future, the Iota Educational & Housen Foundation will implement many more programs to aid at risk youth in different communities in several states.
